Email Marketing Tips to Spice Up your Valentine’s Day Campaigns

1. Woo with your Words
Your subject line is critical when it comes to a customer’s decision to open your email or not. Be sure to select each word carefully. We researched the most effective words in increasing the click-through and open-rates of your emails. Emails including seasonal words in the subject line, like “date” and “Cupid,” performed the best.
The real winners though? “Romance” and “crush.” We found that the inclusion of the word “romance” increased click-through rates by 155 percent, while the word “crush” increased click-through rates by a dramatic 205 percent!
So, next time you’re drafting your Valentine’s Day subject line, be sure to strategically add in some words like “crush” and “Cupid” that are sure to catch your customer’s attention.
2. Time it Right
When it comes to email marketing during the Valentine’s Day season, we did in fact, find one day which outperforms all other days of the week with regard to highest click-through rates. While Friday and Saturday might make for the best date night, turns out that right at the beginning of the week is the best time to send your Valentine’s Day email message to customers.
Open rates on Mondays were 85 percent higher than the other days of the week. Don’t spend your Friday and Saturday nights emailing! Enjoy the weekend, and next year shoot to send your Valentine’s Day emails on the two Mondays before February 14, as those two days see the highest open-rates.
3. Be the Cupid of Content
Send your email like an arrow from Cupid’s bow directly into your customers’ hearts and charm them with engaging content.
Your business doesn’t need to be directly related to items you’d traditionally associate with Valentine’s Day like gifts, flowers and chocolates. There are plenty of ways to make the most of this time of the year and share seasonal content. Get creative and offer suggestions for fun outdoor activities, art projects or top 10 lists, such as the 10 best rom-coms to watch etc.
We found that offering ideas for gifts, crafts, recipes and projects for kids were among the most clicked-through emails sent in 2015. Emails offering ideas for Valentine’s Day dates, last-minute gifts for your significant other and ideas and tips on how to keep the romance alive all saw higher engagement.
